Earth From Another Sun at Unite Copenhagen 2019

Unite Copenhagen was hosted this year at the Bella Convention Center in Copenhagen, from the 23^rd to the 26^th of September. Boasting cutting edge and innovative technologies, the conference is divided into several technical specialties, attracting tens of thousands of talented developers from around the globe. Industry specialists from the world gathered, to show case their techniques and content related to Unity; a few companies such as Futureplay from Finland and Multiverse Entertainment had the pleasure of attending the Keynote’s opening speech.

Freeman Fan, CEO & Founder of Multiverse Entertainment, brought Multiverse’s recent in development title Earth From Another Sun to the stage, showing the fruitful efforts of his diligent team.


Multiverse Utilizes Unity’s High Definition Rendering Pipeline to Build Worlds.

Earth From Another Sun is one of Multiverse’s newest projects, an FPS with rogue-like and deck-building mechanics. Set in the distant future, the earth is sent through a mysterious worm hole by an unknown force to another timeline. Much of the story has yet to be revealed, keeping players on the edge of their seats.

Most video games have a high demand for immersion. Multiverse sought to fulfil this demand last year, with their title Seeking Dawn, a title well known for its captivating world. With the decision to continue crafting immersive worlds, Multiverse has decided to utilize Unity’s recently released High Definition Rendering Pipeline. In his presentation, Freeman touches on this feature:

“HDRP enables us to build a world that is more lifelike and organic, creating an ambience that evokes a sense of tension and mystery. To achieve this, our artists layered a variety of HDRP effects. First we adjusted the exposure, then did some tone mapping, applied sub surface scattering, added volumetric lighting, modified the color grading and made a slight lens distortion. The result speaks for itself, a stunning environment that’s alive and far more immersive than what we started with. Even better, we didn’t have to sacrifice performance. Every shooter strives for high a frame rate, but balancing visual fidelity and performance can be a challenge. We are overjoyed that Earth From Another Sun runs at a smooth 60 frames per second.”
